KoRn RIAA Platinum Award for “See You On The Other Side”
Another beautiful award just arrived in Switzerland! This time, we received the platinum record award for KoRn’s “See You On The Other Side” album! I think we can all agree that this wasn’t KoRn’s best album, right? But at the end of the day, it’s still KoRn, still better than a lot of other stuff. 😉 Anyway, it was released on December 6, 2005, through Virgin Records, went Gold just five weeks later on January 12, 2006, and received Platinum certification from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) on March 16, 2006.
Regarding the charts, it debuted in the U.S. at #3, selling an incredible 220,000 copies in the first week of its release. Besides the U.S., it charted in 18 other countries as well, for example, #5 in Greece, #7 in Austria, #8 in New Zealand, #12 in Germany, #19 in Australia and I’m happy it also made it into the Swiss charts at #11. Regarding certifications, it went Gold in Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Germany; Silver in the U.K.; and finally Platinum in the U.S. and New Zealand.
KoRn “See You On The Other Side” Platinum Record Award
Let’s talk about this stunning award, starting with the elephant in the room: That eye-catching album cover art dominating the design is an original painting by American surrealist and gothic artist David Stoupakis. His work doesn’t stop there, eleven more of his paintings are featured in the deluxe special edition of the album, adding a rich visual layer to the entire release.
At the center of the award sits the vinyl itself, positioned just behind the child’s head creating a subtle 3D effect when viewed from the side. The child’s head is printed on heavy cardstock, giving it a raised, standout look against the background. On the left, the iconic KoRn logo is printed directly onto the plexiglass, adding to the premium presentation.
This particular award is dedicated to Shawn Barusch, renowned A&R executive and manager, best known as the founder of Music Gallery International, home to a strong roster of rock and metal bands. His impact on the scene is undeniable, and it’s great to see his name tied to such an iconic piece.
