Mudvayne L.D. 50 Gold Record Award

It’s always exciting to see heavy music receive official recognition, like Mudvayne’s L.D. 50, which earned a Gold certification from the RIAA. Released on August 22, 2000, the album reached Gold status almost exactly a year later, on August 17, 2001. It debuted on the U.S. Billboard 200 at number 85 and also charted internationally, including peaking at number 33 in Australia.

A major factor in the album’s success was the single “Dig,” which gained significant popularity. In a remarkable twist, “Dig” itself earned a Gold certification from the RIAA, but not as a traditional single. Instead, it was recognized as a Video Single, a category that covers music video releases containing no more than two songs and a total running time of 15 minutes or less. For “Dig,” that meant Gold certification for 25,000 copies sold—a rare and intriguing recognition that few fans are aware of.

Mudvayne “L.D. 50” Gold Record Award

Here’s another stunning award on display. At its center sits the vinyl, surrounded by the four members of Mudvayne in their iconic horror-inspired makeup. The Mudvayne logo is elegantly printed on the glass above, framed by a sleek black border. The album artwork dominates the background, creating a striking visual centerpiece.

This award is dedicated to Barbara Santella, though information about her is scarce online. The only hint of her involvement suggests a possible connection to radio, but this has not been confirmed. If you have any insight into her role or her connection to Mudvayne, we’d love to hear from you—please reach out via email.
