P.O.D. “The Fundamental Elements of Southtown” Platinum Record Award

Another stunning addition just arrived here in the land of chocolate and cheese! After a long search, I finally tracked down a record award I've been wanting for years, P.O.D.’s “The Fundamental Elements of Southtown” Platinum award.

Released via Atlantic Records on August 24, 1999, the album first went Gold on March 29, 2000, and reached Platinum status later that year on November 6. Fueled by standout singles like “Southtown” and “Rock the Party,” the record helped define a new wave of rap-rock and nu-metal in the late '90s.

Chart-wise, the album peaked at #51 on the Billboard Top 200 in the U.S. and also found success overseas, hitting #32 in New Zealand, the only other country where it charted. A milestone moment in P.O.D.’s career and a truly special piece to have in the collection.

Let’s take a closer look at this stunning award. First off, it’s noticeably larger than most and makes a pretty visual statement. The black frame perfectly complements the fiery background, giving the entire piece a powerful presence.

What really sets it apart is the 3D effect created by the four band members printed directly onto the plexiglass, hovering above the background for a layered, dynamic look. Just below them, the vinyl of “The Fundamental Elements of Southtown” is prominently displayed, adding a touch of authenticity. Another great detail is the P.O.D. logo, also printed on the glass, which ties the design together perfectly.

The award is dedicated to Drew Hendry, though information about him is surprisingly scarce. A quick search only turns up a Scottish politician, probably not the same guy! haha. If anyone knows more about his connection to P.O.D., feel free to reach out, would love to hear the story behind the name.
