Crossfade “Self Titled” Gold Record Award

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m all about collecting and discussing Nu-Metal awards and albums. As the Nu-Metal era faded, so did the massive album sales and certifications. With the rise of file-sharing services like Napster, Kazaa, and Emule, album purchases took a hit. That’s what makes it all the more remarkable that a hard rock band from South Carolina, managed to score a Platinum certification in 2006.

Crossfade released their debut album on April 13, 2004, via Columbia Records. The album went Gold on February 2, 2005, and achieved Platinum status by August 3, 2005. It peaked at #41 on the Billboard Top 200, a solid achievement in a declining market. A significant driver of the album’s success was the hit single “Cold,” which charted at #81 on the Billboard Hot 100 and even reached #47 in Sweden. The single itself was certified Gold in the U.S., cementing the band’s place in early-2000s rock history.

Crossfade “Self Titled” Gold Record Award

Here’s another stunning award that blends design with creativity. The artwork from the album is beautifully showcased, paired with a gold vinyl that adds a dynamic touch. The background is a striking red, with the Crossfade logo prominently displayed on sturdy cardboard. Between the layers, the gold vinyl is seamlessly integrated, creating a cool 3D effect. It's a clever and unique way to combine visual and musical elements.

This particular award is dedicated to Scott Igoe, currently the Vice President of Alternative Series & Specials at Disney/ABC Television Group. Igoe plays a pivotal role in overseeing major productions like the GRAMMYs, CMA Awards 2024, and American Idol. With a career spanning decades, Scott has been instrumental in launching shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live!, cementing his influence in the entertainment industry.
