Five Finger Death Punch “American Capitalist” Gold Record Award Canada
I’ve mentioned this before, but it deserves repeating: I’ve just received another very, very special award. It’s the Gold Record for Five Finger Death Punch's “American Capitalist” in Canada, and it carries even more weight because it's dedicated to the band’s legendary frontman, Ivan Moody (a.k.a. Ivan Greening). That personal connection makes this award all the more unforgettable.
In Canada, achieving Gold status requires 40,000 copies sold, while in the U.S., the threshold is much higher at 500,000. “American Capitalist”” was released by Prospect Park on October 11, 2011, and earned its Gold certification in Canada by March 2013. It went Gold in the U.S. on October 9, 2012, and five years later, it achieved Platinum status there on November 30, 2017. The album also received Silver certification in the U.K. for selling 60,000 copies.
On the charts, “American Capitalist” debuted with massive success: it hit #3 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200, moving over 90,000 units in its first week. It also landed at #6 in Canada, #57 in the U.K., #56 in Scotland, and #14 in Finland.
Five Finger Death Punch “American Capitalist” Gold Record Award for Canada
Let’s dive into the details of the award: the album’s cover artwork is prominently featured across the entire back of the piece, with the Canadian flag proudly displayed at the top as a pin. At the top left, you’ll find the album cover alongside the CD itself. The band’s name, Five Finger Death Punch, is styled in the iconic Sin City font, boldly rendered in red against the background artwork creating a cool 3D effect that truly pops. To the left, the design mimics the appearance of a gold bar, a signature element of the CRIA (Canadian Recording Industry Association) awards, adding an extra layer of flair. The rich gold frame ties everything together seamlessly.
And then, the dedication: this award is specifically dedicated to none other than their legendary frontman, Ivan Moody, a.k.a. Ivan Greening—his real name. To me, there’s no greater honor than owning an award that’s personally dedicated to a core member of the band. It makes it all the more meaningful and undeniably special.
