Godsmack “Changes” DVD Platinum Award Canada
Another day, another grin on my face, all thanks to the postman! Remember back in the early 2000s when bands actually dropped live performance DVDs? Ah, the good old days we all miss so much. Well, today, I’m holding something pretty special, only the second DVD award in my collection, and this one’s from Canada. Makes it that much cooler, right?
On September 14, 2004, Godsmack released "Changes". It’s a mix of documentary and live footage, with 58 minutes of pure live performance action. And get this: It went Gold in the U.S. and even earned Platinum in Canada, for a DVD no less. Back then, in order to reach Platinum status in Canada, you had to sell 20,000 copies. This DVD hit that mark by November 10, 2005. (For context, the threshold was lowered to just 10,000 copies in 2006.) That’s a major milestone, especially considering the tougher sales requirements at the time!
Godsmack “Changes” CRIA DVD Platinum Award
The DVD award comes in a sleek black frame, and the centerpiece is an incredible shot of the band in live action. It also showcases the DVD cover artwork and includes two DVDs inside. In the top right corner, you’ll find the Canadian flag, and in the bottom left, the official CRIA (Canadian Recording Industry Association) metal plate logo.
Now, let’s talk about the person this award is dedicated to: Jack Gulick. Born in Princeton, New Jersey, Gulick developed a passion for television and documentary filmmaking early on. As a teenager, he worked as a performer at Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, to help fund his college education. It was there that he decided to blend live entertainment, film, and television into his career path.
Gulick went on to produce several major releases in the 2000s, including “Audioslave - Live in Cuba”, “Nickelback - Live from Sturgis”, and other Godsmack projects like “An Evening with Godsmack” in 2006. His talent was recognized when he won a Grammy Award in 2011 for his production on “Stark Raving Black”. Quite the impressive resume, wouldn’t you say?
