Limp Bizkit “Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water” 6x Platinum Record Award
Another epic award has made its way across the Atlantic to the land of the Alps! If you’ve been following my blog, you know it all began with those 5 Wes Borland/Limp Bizkit awards. I never got my hands on one from “Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water”, until now. And let me tell you, this one was tough to snag. Seems like no one who owns an award from that album wants to let go of it, and honestly, I get it. That album was a cornerstone of the Nu-Metal era, released at its peak!
Limp Bizkit was on top of the world back then, could it get any bigger? “Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water” broke records, including the insane achievement of being the only Rock/Metal album to ever sell over a million copies in its first week! To be exact, they sold 1,054,511 copies in just 7 days, earning Platinum certification from the RIAA within the first week. That’s absolutely wild. Released on October 17, 2000, by Flip/Interscope, it was 4x Platinum by December 18, 2000. That’s 4 million copies in only two months, crazy numbers! By April 23, 2002, it was certified 6x Platinum.
Before Limp Bizkit, Pearl Jam held the first-week sales record with around 950,000 copies in 1993, but that was before Napster and file-sharing apps. Imagine how many more albums Limp Bizkit would have sold in 2000 if those didn’t exist. Looking at how low album sales are now, it’s safe to say this record might stand for a long, long time. And here’s another crazy fact about this wild release week: they sold 400,000 copies on the first day!!! That’s how massive Limp Bizkit was back then. I mean if you compare it with how long it took for a band like Saliva or Adema to receive a gold certification, that was around 4-6 months for 500’000 sold copies. And Limp Bizkit almost hit that number in just 24 hours, absolutely insane!

Now, let’s talk about the award itself, actually it’s a beast! Big, heavy, and dripping with old-school vibes thanks to its black frame. The plexiglass is framed by many red stars all around the award, while the Limp Bizkit logo sits on the right with “6 Million Sales” stamped beneath it. On the left side, the iconic album cover is showcased in all its glory, printed on sturdy, premium cardboard. And on the right side you find “The Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water” vinyl itself, elegantly displayed. It’s a stunning piece, and it’s all dedicated to Mastin Kipp. Who is he?
Raised in Kansas by scientist parents, Mastin Kipp moved to Los Angeles while still in college to pursue a career in the music industry. He quickly landed his dream job, dropped out of USC, and rose to success, but also fell into addiction, losing everything. At rock bottom, living in his ex-girlfriend's pool house, Mastin vowed to turn his life around. In 2010, his Twitter quotes went viral after Kim Kardashian shared them, launching him into global recognition. He built a successful personal development company, helping over 2 million people worldwide. Known for his authenticity, Mastin's podcast, Power & Purpose, hit #1 on iTunes, and his book Daily Love became a bestseller.
