Limp Bizkit “Significant Other” Gold Record Skateboard Award Netherlands
Most of my awards come from the United States, but this time something truly unique arrived from the Netherlands. It’s a Gold record award for Limp Bizkit’s “Significant Other” album, but not your typical framed plaque. This one is shaped like a skateboard, and it’s easily one of the most creative awards I’ve received. Instead of the standard framed plaque, someone in the Netherlands clearly thought, “Why not make it cooler?” I truly love it, and if you know more about the history of Limp Bizkit, you know how good that fits to them.
The award celebrates 40,000 units sold in the Netherlands, earning Gold certification. The album later hit 100,000 sales there, achieving Platinum status.
Significant Other also saw major international success: Gold in Austria, Argentina, Belgium, Germany, Japan, and my home country Switzerland. Platinum in Mexico, the U.K., the Netherlands, and New Zealand. Double Platinum in Australia. It reached 6× Platinum in Canada and a massive 7× Platinum in the U.S., with the final certification dated September 13, 2001.

Let’s take a closer look at the award itself, if you can even call it that. It’s more of a statement piece. Designing it as a skateboard was a bold and brilliant move, perfectly aligned with Limp Bizkit’s raw, rebellious energy.
The board features the band’s signature artwork across the surface, with the “Significant Other” album cover prominently displayed at the bottom. The actual CD is mounted on the deck, along with the official NVPI plaque (the Dutch equivalent of the RIAA in the U.S.).
One of the coolest details? The dedication to Polydor, Limp Bizkit’s Dutch label at the time, styled to resemble a “Parental Advisory” sticker. It’s a creative nod to the era and the band’s identity, an award that goes beyond recognition and becomes a true piece of art.
