Rob Zombie “The Sinister Urge” Platinum Record Award
Another day, another award arrived! It is without a doubt one of the most striking pieces in my collection, not only visually impressive, but also one of the heaviest awards I own. This particular honor is the Platinum Record Award for Rob Zombie’s “The Sinister Urge”, commemorating sales of over one million copies in the United States.
Released on November 13, 2001, “The Sinister Urge” achieved Platinum certification on January 24, 2003, a little over a year after its release. The album debuted at number 8 on the U.S. Billboard 200, with nearly 150,000 copies sold in its first week. Internationally, it charted in just three additional countries: number 46 in Australia, number 108 in the United Kingdom, and number 38 in Finland.
In terms of certifications, beyond its U.S. Platinum status, the album was also certified Gold in Canada.
Rob Zombie “The Sinister Urge” Platinum record award
This award is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive pieces in my collection. It is a large, substantial display, featuring a vinyl centerpiece framed in a classic black border. The design includes two figures of Sheri Moon and Rob Zombie, crafted from durable cardboard and positioned at the forefront, creating a striking three-dimensional effect. The background artwork extends across the entire plaque, providing a strong visual contrast to the Rob Zombie and The Sinister Urge logos, which are printed on the plexiglass surface.
The award is dedicated to Steve Berman, a veteran music executive who has played a pivotal role at Interscope Records and later Interscope Geffen A&M. He joined Interscope in 1991, just six months after the label’s launch, to oversee marketing and sales during a critical stage in its development. Over the years, he rose through the organization to become Vice Chairman while continuing to lead its marketing and sales strategy.
