Sevendust “Self Titled” Gold Record Award

A truly remarkable piece of music history just landed at my doorstep, a Gold Record Award for Sevendust’s groundbreaking “Self-titled” debut album. Released on April 15, 1997 via TVT Records, the album initially sold only 310 copies in its first week. It was a slow burn, but eventually it broke into the Billboard 200, peaking at #165 on April 4, 1998, and holding strong for a total of 34 weeks. After nearly two years of steady growth, it was officially certified Gold on May 19, 1999.

You can’t make this up, it was just 19 days ago that I received my first Sevendust award for the album “Home”, you might have caught the blog post about it. Now, there’s only one Sevendust album left to complete the collection: “Animosity”. If you happen to have that award and are interested in selling, we’d love to hear from you. Don’t hesitate to reach out!

Sevendust “Self Titled” Gold Record Award

Let’s dive into the award itself, this one’s truly special. It’s the first award I’ve received with a nice looking gold frame, and it’s absolutely stunning. The gold frame perfectly complements the gold vinyl at its center, creating a seamless, elegant look. Above the vinyl, you’ve got the band’s iconic group photo, slightly offset to create a cool 3D effect that makes the whole thing pop. The Sevendust logo is elegantly etched into the plexiglass at the top, while the bottom right features the classic album artwork. Again like the Sevendust “Home” award and the Static-X “Wisconsin Death Trip” award, it is also dedicated to Jonathan Lev.

From his days as a garage-rock drummer propelled his success in delivering brand value and revenue growth for artists, labels, and platforms. Named by Rolling Stone as a top alternative independent music promoter, he has served as a vital connector for iconic acts like Nirvana, U2, Coldplay, and Billie Eilish. With expertise across A&R, marketing, and content development, Lev grew and led two alternative consulting firms, most recently launching the profitable J Lev, Inc. Over 17 years, he’s amassed numerous RIAA awards and played a key role in building a multiplatform audio program.
